Background

The collaboration between NIS a.d and R-Tech in the area of Asset Management / Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) has started in the first half of 2005, and collaboration agreement signed in August the same year. Two teams were in charge of the project: one at the management and one at the implementation/operation level.

As the first phase, the Pilot project was undertaken, aimed to provide the baseline needed for introduction of risk-based methods in inspection and maintenance, and risk management in NISa.d. refineries and other operating units.

The main goals of the project have been achieved by (a) training of NIS staff and (b) performing the risk assessment for selected NIS pilot units in accordance with API 581 and RIMAP methodologies.

The Pilot project ended in April 2006 and has clearly shown the advantages of the application of risk-based methods in inspection and maintenance system, and risk management as well.

Based on the results from the first phase of the collaboration agreement, the continuation of collaboration has been foreseen as necessary.
The contract for extension of collaboration was signed on September 12, 2006, in the premises of NIS a.d. in Belgrade.

The second phase of the Project is aimed to

  • control risk level by means of optimization of inspection processes and justified maintenance tasks, what will contribute to the site safety management and operational reliability of asset
  • increase the effectiveness of the inspection and maintenance activities, and
  • support increasing of the turnaround cycles.
